I am looking for something to use for Bible class for my 13 year old daughter. I would like it to be something she could do by herself but that would have questions for her to write answers to so I could check to be sure she is doing her Bible class. I will be doing Bible memory verses with her. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

How about one of Kay Arthur's studies?

We have been using the Kay Arthur for kids Bible studies, but they are a bit young for eighth grade. There are ton of options out there. You could look into Christian Liberty Press, Bob Jones, and Abeka for Bible curriculum. Or you could go to CBD and check what they have for Bible studies for youth. My daughter will be an eighth grader this year and we are going to use Starting Points: World View Primer, by David Quine. My eldest daughter did this course and it had a profound impact on her thinking. The following year she studied The Genesis Record, by Henry Morris, which is a verse by verse study of Genesis. It's about 600 pages long, but well worth it. It may be above an eighth grade level though. What I do for Bible study is to pray and ask the Lord to direct me on what to purchase. He has helped me along the way and the kids are all developing a strong biblical understanding.

I was actually referring to Kay Arthur's adult studies. Don't know if they'd be too advanced, though. Simply Charlotte Mason has Bible studies designed for grades 7-12. www.simplycharlottemason.com

Thanks for the suggestions!! I did go online and look around. I found on CBD a series of Bible Studies called Explorer's Bible Study. The Quest ones are for Jr. and Sr. High. The cover makes it look like it is for younger kids and at first I skipped over it but then I remembered I was actually in the teen section and looked on the back and saw it was for her age group. In the same Explorer's Bible Study Series they have Discovery which is for grades 3-6 and I've decided to use that with my son but will do that with him because he doesn't like reading so much and likes writing even less. He will like it better if I read and ask him verbal questions. On the other hand, it will work out better with my daughter for her to do it on her own and I will just check to make sure she is doing it and go over any answers that she didn't get.

I think the Explorer's series also links up the older kids' Bible studies with the adult ones so that the whole family can be doing the same study together but separately. We use their younger children's one for our family devotions.

The CLE (Christian Light Education) curriculum actually has several in depth studies of the Bible at the middle school and high school levels. They are written as a class (credit) style course and there are tests on it. My kids have learned a lot through that... but really..anything you have that will get her deeper into the Word and grow in it would be really good. I love Kay Arthur...and sometimes we do our kids a discredit by NOT getting them into the deeper adult studies.
