Well, I did good yesterday, in that I ate only TWO cookies and ONE piece of fudge. Today, I ate the same thing, except I've added two donuts to it.

For the past couple of months, I've been on the Transitions plan, which is very healthy, very balanced. It is a combination of healthy diet, regular exercise, and herbal supplements. I've lost some inches, but not really losing weight yet. Others are beginning to see the weight loss. I really like this because of the emphasis on healthy, organic foods. Yes, organic is more expensive, but it's also more nutritious and flavorful, and even though I'm not working, I'm not compromising my health, so I go for organic. I just need to watch the portion sizes so I'm not eating more than I need to.

I also started a food blog about local foods. What I want to accomplish is the ability to find lots of fresh food around my area that is not only good for us, but also supporting local agriculture and getting away from food "manufacturers" (an oxymoron if I ever heard one!! )

That sounds WONDERFUL! I love the emphasis on fresh vegetables, organic food, and buying local items!

It's just that right now, the basement is so uninviting, and it's boring down there. I need something to do while exercising, or i will get bored again and quit again. I know it. It's four walls, low ceiling, and a carpet not worthy of a dog house . . . .

I hear ya! I got out voted on where to put my coming stationary bike. I wanted it in the living room. Everyone else voted my bedroom, which is completely dark and very dusty and cold. Dark and cold are great for sleeping, but otherwise I prefer a more warm and well-lit area..... with no dust. I've been getting quite the workout this week just trying to get rid of the dust in there.

So I talked to my husband about this, and he wants to DO it!!!! The basement shall not only become our exercise room, but he will run cable do there, and we'll put in a TV, a tiny table and chairs for dinner on hot summer days, and a place to sit and read!!!

My new diet is working. This morning I tried on a pair of pants that were really loose in the waist. The thing is that two weeks ago, I could button these pants but they were painful. This morning they were really loose!! I knew I had been dropping so serious size, but that was incredile. I am going to weigh tomorrow and see how the weight loss matches up.

That's wonderful, Karen.

I went out today and bought the niftiest digital kitchen scale in a fun LIME GREEN! (I had a less nifty non-digital one, but wanted one with greater accuracy!) I found it at Sur La Table for just $30 and its a Salter Scale, a well-known and respected brand. Anyway, I'm a happy camper with my cheery new lime green scale .... yay!

Last night, I ate 4 (yes 4!) peppermint sugar cookies I got on sale at the store, partially because I knew that I was starting over with eating right and exercising today!! And so far, its been a great day in that respect. I had a nice salad and a half of a peanut butter sandwich (leftovers from the kids lunch). For dinner, we had broccoli, chicken casserole. Although, the casserole is not exactly low-fat or low calories, I ate a small portion so I don't feel too bad about eating it. I walked about a mile today.

Have a great rest of the evening, everyone! Look forward to posting in here more often.

A good kitchen scale is next on my list of "Jenn Must Have This When There Is Money Free In The Budget" lol. I had a scale that we bought from Wally World, but it was junk, and was not even close to accurate. I am shying away from pasta until then, since I can't seem to measure it accurately without a scale.

I went for a 1 hour walk today, in 35 degree weather. It was simply exhiliarating! I bribed my 11 year old to go with me and we had a blast. We walked 3 miles and each time we found a sunny spot, we would turn our faces to the sun to soak it up! I could feel my body temp get about 20 degrees warmer whenever we got into the sun lol. It was awesome.

I have babies every single day this week, so that means I'm going to have to be the Queen Of Time Management if I want to get my workouts in. I'm making Black and Red Bean Turkey Chili tomorrow night, and I can't wait. I've already got my black and red beans soaking and I'll slow cook them tomorrow and then put the chili on later in the day.

I have to admit, I was really apprehensive about switching to turkey over our regular lean ground beef, but so far, I really love it. I like the texture much better and no more belly aches or bloating after dinner. It also smells much "cleaner" when it's cooking if that makes sense at all. I haven't tried anything major, like meat loaf or hamburgers, but I'm pretty sure they will be good as well.

Jenn, when you're ready ... the best value I've seen on a digital kitchen scale is THIS ONE from Amazon. (For comparison shopping purposes!)

Add me to the gang! I got sick at the first of the year and now I'm on the road for work, so can't do my regular routine, but I am eating healthy and not junk. I've got a goal in mind - get to see my SO in 46 days, and want to have lost at least 25. I know I can do it - if not more. I start classes at the gym next week when I'm in off the road. Cannot wait!

I know so little about buying jeans. All my jeans are now too big in the waist, but the next size smaller is visually too small. I need to get educated.

I buy smaller jeans at thrift stores. It helps the missions of the stores out and it gives me clothes in sizes to grow down into. Every few weeks I try on the ones that were a little too snug. It's so much fun when they finally fit.

I had my weigh in on Sat 148.4

So another loss (-1.6) so that is a good week.

I am doing weight watchers and I was able to eat 20 pts and then you get 35 pts to use through out the week, and if you exercise, you get points added for your exercise.

My goal is to split the 35 pts over the week evenly, unless I eat out for something special.

I am doing the online Weight watchers. After my weigh in on Sat, it recalculated my points, and I only get 19 per day! Yikes! It is not much food, but I am working it out. There are somedays I am super hungry and others I am not so hungry and I force myself to finish my points.

I run, and I am hoping I can keep up this eating, run and lose weight. It has worked the past two weeks. The points I earn for exercising help a lot though, because 19 pts is not much food. :)

I like this way because if I eat Taco Bell, I figure out the points, and then I need to stop eating later on and just have veggies or water. It keeps me from eating another 2000 calories for dinner.

I just joined fitday. My daughter has been on for a long time. I have not even tried to watch my weight for three years. Last week my dh was told he will have to start insulin so I decided now is the time to quit killing myself too. I weighed and was not surprised to see I am now at 154. We got the WII Fit for Christmas and I started using it today. I think it is going to provide a wonderful workout and the "games" are so entertaining that the time goes very quickly.

Yesterday and today I did terrible, all due to poor planning!! It started with Sunday morning, rushing out the door to go to church early and knowing I would get home until later. So I quickly made my breakfast and ran off to church. But I put real sugar in my tea instead of Splenda (which increases cravings and other symptoms). After church, I went to the grocery store without my list and while I got the meat I needed, I forgot the Splenda. When I got home, I was tired, so I went to my parents' house and had a bowl of bean soup. While it's healthy, it's not according to the plan and not a complete meal. So then I got home and now I've forgotten what I had for dinner. I had a headache, so it wasn't much. I had to run around the house last night to get everything ready for this morning, so I didn't do much planning.

This morning, I was up waaay early and had an hour drive to a new job. It was orientation today, so they provided all kinds of food I couldn't have. I didn't pack a lunch, so I gave in to a few of the snacks, then went to Panera for lunch! On the way home, I stopped at the grocery store so hopefully tomorrow I won't have the same problems and will be a little more prepared.

Panera actually has some diet-friendly options ... when you have time, check out their nutritional info so you can choose wisely whenever you go there.
