Hi momof5too I've also had my own season of questioning, and of wrestling with similar issues such as what happens to people who have either never heard of Jesus or have rejected a false representation of Jesus believing it was the real one. During these times I've come to realize that there are different ways of looking at these issues. For example, there are those who believe that Jesus is the only door to eternal life and the only way to the Father and also believe that Jesus will eventually reconcile the whole world, meaning each person, to Himself. This is referred to as 'universal reconciliation', and I hope that mentioning this doesn't cause a ruckus, because I'm not trying to imply that this should be the answer to your questions, only to point out that there is more than one possible answer to issues like this one. For myself, I've found that the more I learn to trust Jesus, the less I worry about the questions I have, because I've realized that He has a better sense of justice than any one of us could ever have. He is more loving than I could ever hope to be if I lived to be a thousand. He is, after all, the creator of this ginormous universe and of each one of us. So I've learned to be content looking through the dark glass, pondering and praying about various mysteries, and with a growing conviction that He will set everything right. The more I focus on Jesus - His words, actions, His love for us - the less anxiety I feel about not having the answers to every question. I hope your journey brings you many blessings, momof5too

It seems to me that you have much more faith than you give yourself credit for. The fact that you began your thread with concern over your children's salvation speaks volumes to me. If your faith were shallow or your doubt was truly selfish, then you wouldn't find yourself concerned with this. It's my feeling that you have a lot of faith. There are bound to be times when we feel discouraged, or question the lessons we are taught. I don't believe God wants blind followers. He wants us to think and question and form deeper levels of faith. In the process of putting down deeper roots in your faith, you have encountered some difficulty. The bible is inspired of God, but remember that it was written, translated, and compiled by man. As such, it is bound to bear some mark of humanity. The overall picture is what is important, which is how God wants us to live and treat eachother. Keep on that journey and you'll make your way through this. Also, remember that in the bible, the one person who doubted Jesus' resurrection, Thomas, was not punished for his doubt. In fact, Jesus appeared directly to him to address his doubts (John 20: 24-29). Hope that helps.
